Treatments for
12 – 16 years old, permanent teeth

Although individual growth and development varies, with people exhibiting different precociousness or growth rates, the period between 11 and 13 years of age represents a crucial phase. At this stage, the permanent dentition is generally almost complete, while retaining significant growth potential, often essential to correct possible imbalances affecting jaw formation.

  • At this stage when the permanent dentition is complete, our priority is to correct any dental misalignment, unless there is a significant deformation of the jaws or if prior treatment with a removable appliance has already begun.

    • For minor adjustments, we favor the use of removable appliances, allowing the movement of 2 to 3 teeth maximum.
    • More complex corrections are commonly achieved with multi-bracket treatments, involving the placement of brackets called “brackets” or “rings” on each tooth. A semi-rigid wire, held by plastic or metal ligatures, guides tooth movement. The braces, transparent for the upper incisors and metallic for the other teeth, are glued to the outside of the teeth.
    • Invisible aligner treatments are gaining popularity among adolescents. Find out more in our section ‘Invisible Orthodontics for Teenagers’.

Invisalign invisible aligners, available at the office of Dr Lebahar, orthodontist in Thonon-les-Bains

Orthodontic aligners, transparent and virtually invisible, offer a removable solution for your treatment. Personalized to fit your teeth perfectly, these trays are renewed every two weeks. They induce a gradual movement of your teeth, week after week, until you move on to the next tray.
